The Syrian Emergency Organization managed to bring five specialized doctors into the besieged Rukban camp in southern Syria, which suffers from a severe lack of medical services.
The organization, headed by Syrian-American activist Mouaz Moustafa, succeeded in delivering five specialized doctors to the camp. The team includes a specialist in surgery and neurology, two dentists, a psychiatrist, and a pediatrician/anesthesiologist.
Mouaz Moustafa said on platform X, “In a besieged and starved Syrian camp denied healthcare by Russia, Iran, and Assad, the US Army coordinated with an American NGO, the Syrian Emergency Task Force (SETF), to bring five doctors to Rukban. Grateful to the Free Syrian Army for protecting civilians and doctors.”
This is the first time such a large number of doctors have entered the camp with the help of SETF.
The doctors will stay until the 16th of this month (June/July), with one remaining longer to provide ongoing assistance.
It is noted that on Tuesday, the Syrian Emergency Organization distributed food aid to the residents of Rukban camp.
Each family’s food parcel included: “3 cans of halva, 11 cans of peas, 11 cans of luncheon meat, 12 cans of chickpeas, and 5 cans of beans.” This comes as a continuation of the food aid distributed to the camp’s residents a few days earlier.
Global Justice Organization participated in distributing the aid through its envoy to the camp, Moayad Youssef, and today, it is participating through dentist Dr. Temim CÜBEYİNOĞLU, head of Dünya Adaleti (Global Justice) in Turkey. He arrives at the camp with Sullivan Gaudreault, the English editor for Global Justice Syria News, bringing the number of Global Justice representatives in the current campaign to three participants of different specialties, alongside Dr. Bakr Ghabis, head of Citizens for a Secure America (C4SSA).
It is noteworthy that the first doctor to break the siege of the Rukban camp was Dr. Haitham Al-Bazzam, head of Global Justice, who reached the camp last summer accompanied by Mouaz Moustafa. He examined a large number of displaced people in the camp and provided aid to build new schools for children. He also financed the monthly salaries of teachers in Rukban schools for the 2023/2024 academic year, in addition to Global Justice funding for printing and storing thousands of textbooks for various educational stages, which were transported to the camp and distributed for free.
